Pixcom Energy Awarded HES & MDM Platform for 500,000 Smart Water Meters by EtihadWE

Pixcom Energy LLC is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a Head-End System (HES) and Meter Data Management (MDM) implementation for 500,000 smart water meters by Etihad Water and Electricity (EtihadWE), covering operations across four Emirates in the UAE.
This large-scale deployment represents a major milestone in EtihadWE’s digital transformation journey, enabling data-driven water operations, enhanced billing accuracy, and improved operational efficiency across a geographically distributed utility footprint.
Unified Smart Metering Architecture at National Scale
Under this award, Pixcom Energy delivered an end-to-end smart metering software ecosystem integrating diverse metering technologies and communication protocols into a single, scalable platform. The solution supports:
- M-Bus–based smart water meters
- Modbus-enabled meters
Centralized HES for meter communication, control, and data acquisition
Enterprise-grade MDM for validation, estimation, analytics, and reporting
The architecture was designed to reliably ingest, normalize, and process high-volume meter data streams from hundreds of thousands of endpoints, ensuring accuracy, resilience, and long-term scalability.
Advanced MDM & Enterprise Integration
The project includes deployment of Sagemcom Fröschl’s advanced MDM platform, delivering robust data management, analytics, and operational intelligence for utility-scale smart metering.
The HES–MDM stack is fully data-driven and tightly integrated with EtihadWE’s enterprise systems, including seamless connectivity to SAP for billing, customer information systems, and operational workflows. This integration enables near real-time data availability, automated processes, and improved decision-making across utility operations.
Enabling Digital Water Utility Operations
The deployed platform supports critical smart water use cases such as:
- Automated meter reading and remote diagnostics
- Data validation and anomaly detection
- Consumption analytics and demand insights
- Scalable onboarding of new meters and regions
